Adam’s Peak Off-Season Hiking

Off-Season Hiking Considerations:

  • Approximate time: 12 – 16 hours.
  • Trail Facilities: During this time, many of the tea shops and rest stops along the trail may be closed, so it’s advisable to carry sufficient food and water

Access to the mountain is possible by 3 main trails.

  1. Ratnapura-Palabaddala – “Raja Mawatha”
  2. Hatton-Nallathanni
  3. Kuruwita-Erathna.

Weather and Hiking Season

Hiking Season:

Official Sri Pada season is from December to April. During this time the trails are packed with pilgrims due to which a lover of nature would find it difficult to appreciate the surrounding. But it is the period with the best weather conditions and the trail is cleared by the military making it a safe hike.

Off-season:

Climb is much enjoyable as you are away from human habitat with no cellular reception for a day walking through a tropical jungle. June to August period is quite hazardous due to extreme weather conditions such as heavy showers, strong winds & the trail is infested with wild animals.
