Planning rules that work
Roads are slow. Plan about 40 km/h on average; 100 km can take 3 hours in the hills.
Drive 5 to 6 hours a day at most (200 to 250 km).
Stay 2 nights in big hubs: Sigiriya, Kandy, Ella and the south coast.
Travel in a loop from BIA and back to avoid backtracking. The planner orders your stops.
